Client: City of Saint-Priest
Restructuring of the Urban Surveillance Center and Extension of the Municipal Police – Saint-Priest
Environmental qualities of the project:
-The municipal police and the urban surveillance center occupy the ground floor of the north wing of the town hall of Saint-Priest. The premises being too small, these services have been restructured with the addition of the administrative police and a meeting room accessible from the town hall.
-The intervention consisted in the demolition of existing premises and rebuilding in the same place with an extension to the limit the public domain, sensitive site in the heart of a major urban renewal (tram and bus stations, pedestrian walkway, access to the city hall, urbanistic project).
-This environmental quality operation has minimized the construction nuisance (occupied site) and used wood extensively for facade and structure.
-The perception of a specific entity is valued by the backward treatment of high and low joints with higher levels, and slightly slopy ground.
-Choice was made to enhance the vegetal appearance at the north access to the town hall by a simple volume with wood siding, to restore the equipment’s autonomy.
-The wooden structure of this extension also expresses the willingness to intervene slightly on a police station in order to soften the image and develop the feeling of proximity.
